I am only selling this guitar because I've had the opportunity to buy a dream guitar of mine, and unfortunately it means letting this one go. For sale is a beautiful Roger Mcguinn HD7 from 2005, number 242. It's a really killer guitar, i've played it for a few years now and it's been a go to instrument to for me. The sound is much richer and fuller than a standard D28. The owner before me was a really good friend of mine, the luthier at the Guitar Sanctuary in Mckinney, Texas. It was his personal guitar for several years before deciding to turn it over to me. It's been refretted, had a neck reset done a few years back, had an LR Baggs imix installed, (which is a dual source piezo pickup and bridgeplate transducer, it sounds really good!) and been essentially given a makeover to make it a perfect players guitar.
The reason I have it listed for cheap, is unfortunately sometime during the life of this guitar UPS was not kind to it and it ended up with a cracked shoulder. This crack was repaired by Daniel Kirkland, and he assures me that the repair work was done in such a way that the longevity of the guitar is not affected at all. Neck resets can still be done, and the stability of the guitar has not been a problem whatsoever. You can see the damage in the pictures above, but if anyone wants more pictures or would like more information about the repair work done, I would be more than happy to provide it.
I believe the buyer for this instrument will be someone who intends on playing it, and wants a good deal on a hard to find, very unique, and excellent sounding instrument. The seventh string really gives it a much more folk oriented sound, there's a reason Roger Mcguinn designed it this way. But you can also just as easily remove that seventh string and have quite an exceptional six string box. It's extremely diverse in its application. As Roger put it, it's the "swiss army knife" of guitars.
Thank you for looking! If you have any questions or need anything at all, please feel free to reach out. I hope this guitar can make someone as happy as it has made me.
