This listing is for two separate open baffle woofers. Most people tend to go with what they know. Most commercially available subs (not high quality ones) utilize cheap drivers in tuned or sealed boxes. They work well at producing bass. No doubt about it. So why are most of these subs disconnected sitting in a corner collecting dust? It’s not the subs themselves for the most part, it’s the room. When a sealed sub moves out to produce a musical note, it increases the air pressure in the room in addition to the sound it produces. The result of that pressure is that the walls and windows in your room flex in response to the pressure. Repeat that process hundreds of times I minute and you not only hear the musical note, you hear the room vibrating at a different frequency. Ported subs pressurize a room a bit less but they still pressurize the room. Most people have never heard anything other than a sealed or ported sub so that’s the sound that they’re used to. But they know something is wrong so the sub sits disconnected in the corner.

Open baffle (OB) subs are open in the front and the rear. As air moves in response to a musical note, the rear of the cone is open so some air rushes around the sub and that causes some cancellation. With more distance between the front and rear wave, you have reduced cancellation. The most typical OB sub uses an H frame. It looks like an industrial type setup akin to what you might see at a concert. It’s not uncommon to see two stacks of 3 18” woofers. To each their own but I don’t generally listen to music at sound levels requiring that much cone surface and I prefer a more compact aesthetically pleasing baffle that accentuates the look of most dipole speakers. This design achieves these objectives while playing down to 16HZ. With the exception of one online retailer, most people try to use lots of inexpensive subs to produce a sufficient amount of bass. With my design you can’t get away with cheap. I hunted down the perfect subs for this application and there’s no getting around the expense. Cheap subs don’t have enough excursion and not a rigid enough suspension. My drivers have a triple suspension (two spiders and a compact multi-roll gasket). They are definitely not cheap. 1,000 watts of highly flexible sub power is highly unique and is typically used in commercial applications. The baffle is made, not from cheap MDF but the best quality solid core Baltic Birch plywood. The baffle is a configuration that to my knowledge has never been commercially available here in the US. The small front opening creates an air cushion that allows the sub to play louder and lower similar to compression drivers.

With these subs, you get accurate low bass that excites you, not your room. Nobody will put these babies in the corner! The base price is 3000 for the pair as shown. other finishes are available including highly figured fiddle back Makore veneer. POR Shipping will essentially be double because I will have to ship each sub separately and the amp in a third box.
