For you consideration...
This is a husk of a circa 1985 Kramer USA Pacer Deluxe Floyd Rose D series in Custom Color Candy Red. This is definitely a players grade guitar that could be restored to its former glory or your new mod platform.
I tried to document and gather as much information as I could, this is definitely a project or you can used the parts. Please message me if you have any questions, I will love to answer any questions. The sale is final and there is no returns. I am open to offers and willing to work on a price.
Please read !
The pretty,
As far as I can tell it looks all original. This one's from the D series batch circa 1984-1985, and a low serial # as well. It doesn't say USA on the plate but from what information I can find Custom Colors orders did not get a USA stamp on them.
One of the more attractive features of this is the very sought after Banana headstock. This era of necks were made by ESP in Japan. This is the standard Banana headstock more commonly seen, the earlier ones have a longer headstock. Not commonly seen either is the beautiful Figuring and Bird's Eye Maple on the back of the neck. It still has the stock Schaller Tuners that work perfectly. The truss rod on the neck adjusts as it should. The locking nut is a Floyd Rose R5 1.2.
The Floyd Rose it has on is also stock, Made in Germany. It holds in tune and works as a Floyd should.
The body is finished in a Custom Color Candy Apple Red. The standard finishes were Blue Stain, Red Stain, White, Creme & 3 Tone Sunburst. For a additional 50$ you can get Candy Red, Candy Blue & Blue Sunburst. First page of the catalog this comes with shows this info.
Also comes with a Canadian made hardshell case thats pretty beat up and a vintage Kramer brochure
The ugly,
The neck, at the top where the locking nut sits seems to have caused separation between the fretboard and the neck. You can flex the headstock and you can see it move a little, but it's not falling apart, humidity and age probably affected this over time. It does not show signs of warping either. On the back of the neck, the Scarf Joint has stuck out little as a result of the nut pushing inwards. It does not flex out it feels very solid, only thing is you feel it when you pass your hand. The frets could use some crowning and it has divots but did not affect playability when I had it strung up. Its hard to tell if the neck was sanded down to remove the finish or its been played that much.
The worst thing about the body is the finish being sanded off where the arm contour goes, whoever had it probably tried to copy Jeff Beck's Esquire. Aside from wear on the finish it also has 3 holes on the back going across on a line, I have no idea why. Theres also wear from the backplate, it looks like it got spun around a lot. The strap buttons were replaced also,
As for the electronics, they seem all stock but it was rewired terribly. When I found it, the bridge and the middle pickups worked. The neck pickup is most likely dead, I tried to wire it straight to the volume pot and to the output but I wouldn't get any signal. The pups don't have any branding or model number on them. I tried to document them as best I could. All the electronics on the pickguard are included.
