This is a 1976 Gibson Thunderbird Bass that I picked up about 7 years ago. I had the broken headstock repaired (with splines), I had it refretted and then sent it to Lay's Guitar in Akron, OH for a new Aged Pelham Blue finish. The original three-point bridge has been replaced with a '60s style Badbird bridge and a stop tailpiece. The pickups are from Thunderbucker Ranch (now out of business). The repro decal shows the correct original serial number. The finish has a few imperfections, like where the lacquer has sunk in a bit at the top end of the splines (see photo), but is in excellent condition overall and totally solid. The bass plays and sounds as good as you would expect. It has excellent action, and the Thunderbuckers give it a good growl. It's a one-of-a-kind Thunderbird! Includes the original Gibson hardshell case.
