The Case...

This guitar comes in an original 70s/80s Gibson Flying V Case. One latch is missing, there is tolex wear along the edges and stickers all over it - but as far as these vintage V cases go... still perfectly serviceable!

Let's start with the good - this is an authentic Gibson Flying V in Bahama Blue finish from 1981.

The Bad... someone broke the headstock and routed it for a FLOYD ROSE

This has since been lovingly restored as a project which includes filling in the floyd rose route in the top/back, re-repairing the headstock properly, installing a new Rosewood fretboard with askew mother of pearl dot inlays and refinishing overtop of the original aged Bahama Blue with a fresh Bahama Blue coat to make this all look "normal" again and then doing a light aging to it to reveal some of the original finish along the edges of the body.

It is currently loaded with a Gibson Pat No neck pickup (either mid-70s ttop or a Tim Shaw PAF - there are no markings on the back) and a 1980 Dirty Fingers Gibson pickup. Both of these pickups hold considerable value and sound great! It has 1980 pots that are rather scratchy as well as stiff-feeling original Gibson Tulip tuners. The rest of the parts are modern/reproductions.

I would suggest a detailed setup. It plays fine as-is for the bedroom player but could be dialed in more for the professional. The current bridge has not been slotted for the strings and the new nut seems just a bit high and could use some filing. I noticed one high fret on the 19th fret of the high-e. A more detailed analysis might reveal more, but the frets are nice and tall and can easily be spot leveled/level+crowned if desired by your luthier.
