1993 John Hartford Grenadilla Tone ring “Pop-Off” resonator Versatile Banjo. Ideal for playing “Close-Quarters“ with others as it is low tuned Warm Deep sound without abrasive overtones that banjos can develop! Equally delicious Clawhammer and Three finger picking the grenadilla wood tone ring will surprise you with depth of tone and sustain. Non-traditional “Celtic Tree of Life“ inlay needs some filler and cosmetic repair and has some fret wear. (I have deering frets too early to change) I bought this for Exquisite Sound, not cosmetics. You won’t mind the “Lighter feel” without the brass tone ting and flange it’s under 9 lbs. easily tuned to D or E or C tuning the “Lower notes will compliment your voice and “Fatten up” those slow folky ballads! I have a “Smile Bridge” on it and I also have a bridge with built in pickup, a Gibson Clamshell tailpiece and keith tuners for a slight addl charge of $300 (cost of all 3 $550) OHSC has one broken clasp and some wear but impeccable inside.
If you accompany singers or play in tight with others you won’t get the “dirty looks” that are reserved for “Loud Banjo”! This axe has served me well but I can’t afford 2 pricey machines
I am open to reasonable offers! Make this youre own, you won’t regret it! This is $5,500 new!
