Jimmy Foster Performer 7-String Custom

This is a beautiful hand-built custom 7-String Foster Performer made by master luthier Jimmy Foster. It plays and sounds amazing and is a very unique and versatile guitar. Sadly Jimmy passed away back in 2011 and his guitars are becoming harder and harder to find as he made so few.

Jimmy’s 7-Strings were built to be strung with a low A and as jazz guitars but you can use this guitar for a much wider range of styles and tones than just a ”jazz guitar” with the tone knob rolled down. You can string it up with 13s or set it up with lighter gauge if you need to bend some strings and do other things. I’ve done both and it’s awesome.

This particular guitar has 3 pickups (one is a piezo in the bridge). The 2 switches are for different pickup configurations and the tone knob pulls up to activate one of the pickups. Lots of pickup configurations. The neck pickup is a handmade custom Kent Armstrong with “Foster” logo.
It’s got a few little knicks here and there and some finish checking as you can see in the pics.
