Up for sale is a 1982 Hondo bass with a custom paint job. The bass is in good shape with minor cosmetic blemishes on the finish. The headstock has initials on it that I assume are from the person that did the custom paint job. It is a really cool paint job, I wish I knew more about the artist!
Other than the finish, the bass appears to be all original. The electronics work well and the pickup sounds like a classic hot P-bass pickup with a nice treble bite if you dig in. If you roll the tone knob back halfway, it can get a very nice Motown style thump. I’ve used this bass for everything from rock to contemporary pop to soul and it sounds great in every style. The pots are in good shape, but they do crackle ever so slightly on occasion. The truss rod is fully functional and the neck is beefy and very stable. The frets are in good shape and have tons of life left in them. I have the action set somewhat low with minimal fret buzz. According to my bedroom scale, the bass is approximately 9.2 pounds. Original hardshell case included. The hardshell case has some signs of wear as pictured, but is fully functional.
