Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique 1940's era Shure Brothers 737A crystal cardioid microphone that has been retro fitted with a great working dynamic element allowing you to actually use this mic for broadcasting and singing purposes. Often referred to as the "waffle iron" mic due to it's very signature design.

I should start by letting you know that this mic originally came with a sophisticated crystal cardioid element but the mic was non-working so I took liberties to install an older Shure omni-directional dynamic element with strong output.

This basically has the same overall sound as the original crystal model except the signal is far stronger. Like a crystal mic on steroids. The element is high impedance but has a smooth tone that is very mid range in nature and sounds great. It's well secured and should last for decades to come.

This 737A made it's debut in the early 1940's and had a run of roughly 20 years until it was eventually discontinued in the mid 1960's for the more modern style hand held mics that were becoming far more practical. A cast zinc body with a satin chrome finish. She's a real beauty.

Pic # 2 shows this very mic in an old 1940's era Shure catalog.

Pic # 3 shows this model in the movie La Bamba.

This will be a great mic for broadcasting purposes and can even be used for singing especially if you are looking for that old school "rockabilly" tone that was so often heard back then.

The 737A itself is in very nice physical condition. It has just a few tiny spots of wear on the satin chrome housing in the form of pitting but otherwise quite clean. The front and rear grill are free of any dents or fractures and the satin chrome has a nice luster. The blue screens looks very good with an absolute minimum of wear and free of odors. The joint mechanism on this mic has lots of tension and works perfectly allowing you to tilt the head back and forth as needed. The Shure label looks very nice and it's completely legible.

The cable is included to operate the mic. Appx 8 feet long giving you a bit of length to work with. It's soft, pliable and works excellent. It comes with a quality standard Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.

If you need an older mic stand for this mic I have several to choose from in my online store.
