Up for sale is a well used Guild F512. This is the top of the line model 12 string that guild makes. This is a jumbo Rosewood acoustic guitar with a pickup. I will cover all the flaws and try to best describe the condition. I would call it a player grade F512 with a few issues that I will point out. Some might grade this as fair condition, but because it is in a very playable condition, and can be enjoyed right out of the box, I leaned more towards good, than fair condition. Overall, I love the look and feel of this guitar. The sound is loud and bold. The bass response is very clean, and does not muddy the sound when pushed hard with a pick. The highs and lows have a really nice balance, and it plays well as a strummer, or for a fingerstyle player. I will try and make a video of me playing both styles, and me playing up and down the neck, so you can see and hear, that it is good to go right out of the box. Keep in mind, some adjustments might be needed to fit the individual's preferences. The guitar does not need a neck reset, and it plays well as is. The action gets a bit high around the 12th fret, but most 12 strings are not played beyond that position. A straight edge ruler measurement does not have the ruler resting on top of the bridge, but it is in an acceptable position given its age and the amount of playtime this guitar has experienced. The guitar has one crack along the back that has not been cleated. There is also a heavy dent/scratch beside the crack. The back center strip of decorative binding has begun to wear and deteriorate. I not sure what caused this, or what could be done about it. So it would need to be something you could live with, or maybe a luthier out there knows a trick to fix this or fill in over it. I can send more photos of this if needed. The rear of the bridge has just begun to slightly lift. I included a photo of it, where you can also see the saddle height well from the angle in that picture. I would keep an eye on the bridge and play it, as is, until later on if the bridge begins to lift anymore in the future. Those are the major issues I wanted to address. The rest of the flaws are mostly cosmetic and do not affect the sound or playability. The guitar has various dings, dents, scratches, scuffs, smudges and light swirling throughout the guitar. There is some weather checking in the nitrocellulose finish. I tried to set the lighting and angles up, in my photos, to make the checking more visible. Under normal lighting conditions, and sitting a few feet away from the guitar, the flaws and checking do not show up very much, and they actually look worse in the photos, than in real life. The tuners work well and are the original, guild brand, gold tuners. The dual truss rods are working properly, and have a ton of relief left in them for future adjustments. On the treble side of the fretboard, a piece of binding is missing in the first fret. This would be an easy fix for your local luthier, but it can be played as is, if you want to put that off for the future. The first two metal frets have some wear signs. Mostly on the B strings, but they do not have any buzzing or muted notes when being played. The ebony fretboard shows little to no wear signs in the first position, where all the cowboy chords are played. There are no cracks around the sound hole or along the fretboard. There is some wear signs on the treble side of the soundhole from years of being played by a strummer. The guitar's body binding is in good shape for its age. There are no areas of separation of the binding, from the body of the guitar. There are a few chips in the nitro finish in some parts of the binding that I captured in my photos. I tried to include lots of photos of the flaws, and cosmetic wear signs through out the guitar. If you need additional photos or have questions about any of the issues I have covered, please send me a message. The guitar comes with a deluxe, guild brand, hardshell case. It has seen and ton of action and has the scars to prove it. But the latches and handle are working properly. The interior is a black lining that is also in good shape with no bad smells. Overall, I find this to be a really nice, player grade, vintage 12 string. It is fun to play and it sounds great. I will be pricing this one at a very reasonable price for a top of the line model. The F512s continue to go up in price and in value. Most sellers are asking 2,600-3,000 for these currently, and if you wanted a new F512, you are going to have to spend around 4,000. I would like to also sell it fast in order to fund the purchase of another vintage, guild acoustic, D50. I will have my best price for this guitar in my online guitar shop, guild acoustics, one word.
The only guitars I buy, sell, and collect are guild acoustics. I daily guitar hunt for the best guilds, in the best condition.
