Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a nice Shure Brother's 737 A model microphone produced during the 1940's through the 1960's. This particular model was the early 1st generation late 40's to mid 50's era model and nicknamed "The Waffle Iron" for obvious reasons with it's clever and charismatic design. It comes with the beautiful period Shure S-36 model desk stand in which to display.

Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog I have showing the mics basic specs. The 737A was a sophisticated crystal mic for it's time with a cardioid pattern making it ideal for singing as the typical crystal mics of that era were omni-directional and picked up much more unwanted background noise.

This mic particular model was used in the older 1980's flick La Bamba and is one of the most outrageous and beautiful designs to come from Shure Brothers over the years.

It should be noted that the mic is it has been tested and no longer works. The original crystal element inside is dead so this mic should be used for display, [prop or repair purposes only.

The satin chrome finish has extremely lite cosmetic wear associated for a 737A of this age and very nice as seen in the pics provided. This specimen has an amazing luster to it as well. There are no deep scratches, pitting dents or fractures. Let the pics be your guide. The front  inner blue silk screen is evenly colored but has just a few tiny holes that are hard to see. The side and rear violet colored silk screens are perfect. The royal blue Shure badge looks very nice being completely legible. The joint mechanism works perfectly. The threads for the stand and cable as good as they get.

All 737 A model microphones were equipped with a crystal elements.

 I would rate this physically a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

                             MICROPHONE STAND IS INCLUDED...

The 1940's era Shure S-36 model desk stand is included and really compliments the 737A model microphone. The stand makes for a very stable platform and is quite beautiful as well.

Pic # 4 shows this very stand in a 1940's Shure catalog.

The stand is an all metal (aluminum) design with a very modern deco vibe. It has the beautiful silver grey paint scheme on the base which looks very striking with the chrome mic on top.

This particular S-36 stand has almost no wear as seen in the pics provided. There is some lite scratches on the bottom of the base. The stand has 5 original rubber pads on the bottom to keep it from scratching any surface it sits on. There is a brass bolt to attach the mic with and there is the original push to talk black button on the front of the stand. The adapter is no longer wired but could be again at any time. I'd rate the true condition of the stand a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10.

With the 737A on top of the stand it sits at 9 inches tall X 5 inches wide X 7 inches long. A gorgeous combination.

If you are a serious collector of vintage Americans mics then you know what a unique mic this is. She'll make an awesome display piece anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office.

As with all my vintage microphones...
