Super rare original late 60s Teisco K-3l / ET-312 Japan only guitar. The guitar has square pole pickups, a rhythm/solo switch which I've used as a volume boost, as well as 3 induvidual pickup selectors and volume knobs. The circuitry is all original, the tone knob is wired in reverse-polarity and quite subtle, I usually just have it on 0 (meaning it's off) for a brighter sound.
This was only sold in Japan and is built to a much higher standard than their export guitars.
The finish of the guitar is a sort of metallic blue, the photos don't pick it up but it has a pearlescent effect to it too, catches the light really nicely. The body shape is a very unique german carve design.
This guitar is great for surf sounds, probably because it's pickups output are quite low compared to modern ones, I use the rhythm/solo switch to get a more overdriven sound out of an amp or a fuzz.
The neck has a fair bit of fret buzz when unplugged, but it doesn't get picked up by the pickups. The neck is straight and quite thin, I'd say it's a D shape. The neck is generally smooth and easy to play, but the glossy finish/lacquer on it being almost 50 years old definitely effects its feel. I've seen online that some people will take the varnish off of these sorts of guitars to get a more matte feeling. I've never had a problem with it but I figured it's worth mentioning.
5 of the tuners are original and one is a Gotoh tuner, considering they're more than 50 years old the guitar stays in tune very well, even when the vibrato is used a lot.
I haven't had much restoration work done to the guitar because I've always been happy with it as is, the zero fret has been replaced as well as the Gotoh tuner and the vibrato spring, but other than that it's all original!
The guitar has a few dings and chips as would be expected, all photographed, with the biggest one being on it's left side, there's also some chips below the input jack, and next to the strap button. and two little ones at the top of the guitar body. there's also the odd mark and scratch here and there that I've tried to photograph as best as possible, but the glossy finish obscures them from most angles.
I've played plenty of gigs with this guitar and it is very robust and reliable, as well as being very unique and hard to come across.
Hard case included.
Collection is preferred but I can arrange postage at buyers risk. Any questions please let me know,
