Mike Morin modified Marshall 1959 Super Lead 100 watt head from 1989. Previously owned by producer Don Gilmore and used on many professional records, most notably Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora." Includes Gilmore's original A&S road case.
This amp has the full high gain mod from Mike Morin which includes dual push-pull gain controls, a tube-driven effects loop with send and return levels, two additional 12AX7 preamp tubes (one for additional gain and one for the loop), extra power section filtering for tighter response and reduced noise, and an excellent master volume control.
Still has original Dagnall power and output transformers and Drake choke transformer. Loaded with Morin's preferred tubes: Beijing square getter 12AX7s in the preamp, and JJ EL34Ls in the power section.
Very good cosmetic condition and perfect functional condition. This head was given a clean bill of health by Robert Dixon at Amphole (amp tech to pros including Adam Jones of Tool) in 2024.
I was told by Gilmore's assistant that this was his go-to amp for recording since the '90s and was brought to every session. It can be seen on both Linkin Park's "Making of Meteora" DVD and the Meteora 20th anniversary "Work in Progress" DVD (screenshots included in this listing).
