Early 1970's Micro-Frets SpaceTone Red WOHSC
The Micro-Frets Spacetone is a niche piece of musical history, straight from an era of instrument experimentation and a search for new sounds and different feeling guitars. This original example is from the early 70's and is a great way to get that unique experience right into your hands.
Functionally, this guitar is near perfect. The original Schaller tuning machines are tight and hold tune well, and the adjustable nut, while worn, functions as intended and is easily adjustable. The truss rod turns smoothly with plenty of adjustment in both directions, and the original tremolo actuates smoothly and is a joy to use. The knobs and switches move with no stickiness or scratchiness, and the output jack is tight with strong output.
Aesthetically, the guitar is in great shape with a few small areas that show it's age. The chrome tuning machines are shiny with no signs of corrosion, and there are no nicks or dings on the edges of the headstock. The original adjustable nut system shows some heavy corrosion although it functions as intended, and the frets show some moderate wear and discoloration, but no major divots in the frets themselves. All of the metal parts and switches on the body show very minor, tasteful discoloration from age, but are otherwise shiny with no corrosion, and all of the plastic furniture is clean and maintains its original color. The overall finish is excellent, with almost no discoloration on the vibrant red, and the gloss is near perfect with only some scarce, hardly noticeable nicks and dings, but no damage through the finish anywhere. The binding on the front and back is also in excellent shape with some tasteful aging in the color, but no damage or cracking to the binding anywhere, with two visible seems in the binding at the neck joint on the back.
The original case is also included, and in excellent shape. With the exception of some minor signs of age and wear, the original latches, handle, and case feet are all present and work as intended. The interior looks great as well, with no rips, tears, stains or funny smells.
Overall, this guitar is a sweet piece of music history, and would make a great addition for any collector, or a great entry level collectible. Don't miss your chance on this awesome guitar!
