A Great price for a CLEAN and Playable Black Guard. It's probably not fair to call it a "players guitar" as it's exquisitely clean and nice, but it plays so well today due to a re-fret, yet it is also likely to appeal to a collector who wants to use it a bit too.
1954 Fender Black Pick Guard Telecaster. This is 1 of the last Black Guard models as the pick guards change to White mid-year 1954.
The guitar has had a Professional and great feeling RE-FRET and New nut installed, otherwise it remains all original parts and electronics.
Serial Number on Bridge plate is: 4180
The finish is very clean and 100% original throughout.
The body has a Neck-Pocket date of 7/54 in Red pencil which is typical of this period. Many 1954 Strats display dates in Red pencil as well.
The neck has No date, this is somewhat common with early era Fenders. The Neck measures .87" and .98" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively.
The assembly date tape is present inside the control cavity and reads "Caroline D, 7-22-4"
ALL of the parts and hardware are factory original and correct.
This is a very clean guitar with all original finishes. If you want a nice looking Black Guard that also bends notes and plays extremely well, this guitar may appeal to you.
The Case is a hand-made TOSCH REISSUE case, made in Germany. The case was constructed using some original parts and materials, including the RED lining which is an original vintage case lining, salvaged from some other vintage case.
Shipping and Insurance is $150.00 to any Continental US Location.
