This is a great players drum. It's had a few modifications, but at heart, it's one of the best sounding drums ever made in functionally excellent condition.
The early heavy brass shell and tube lugs are identical to those found on Ludwig's legendary 1920s Black Beauty snare drums of the same era. This shell is considered by many to be the best sounding snare shell of all time. This nickel finish on this drum shows a lot of scratches and the are 2 extra holes where the original throw off was replaced with a more modern one. There's a couple of tiny barely notable dings in the shell. A total of 4 of the tube lugs are cracked but still fully functional. The original hoops have been replaced with more modern triple flanged hoops. All of these flat can be seen in the photos.
