Gretsch 22/13/16" 60's Round Badge Name Band Drum Set - Tangerine Sparkle

Here's a great set of vintage 60's 6-ply Gretsch drums finished in their original rare tangerine sparkle wrap! This was catalogued as Gretsch's Name Band outfit; sized 14x22", 9x13", and 16x16". Overall these drums are in nice condition with clean bearing edges and overall secure wrap, just a few spots of light cosmetic wear. Each drum is detailed below.

14x22" - Model 4247, Serial: 1616. This bass drum is in nice shape with no cracks or lifting at the seams of its wrap. There are a few cosmetic marks on the interior silver sealer that I've pictured - these look like they came from rubber feet and are just marks, not scratches in the interior's surface.

9x13" - Model 4416, Serial: 1667. One of the 9x13" hoops also has a severe rash in it, pictured. This could easily be swapped out for a period correct hoop. The hoop itself is in round and does its job nicely even with its battle scar. Interior tone controls are all present and functional.

16x16" - Model 4418, Serial: 15147. No cosmetic notes; some light wear in line with a player of its age. Interior tone controls are all present and functional.

We've replaced the batter heads with fresh Ambassador Renaissance heads, as well as a fresh smooth white Gretsch logo head on the resonant side of the bass drum. This allowed me to see how tightly modern heads fit on this set - it's a tight fit, but not tight enough to endanger the wrap. Remo, Evans, and Aquarian all make a classic fit head if you feel these are not giving enough low range, but we think it performs well down there too.

Steve‘s notes: This set originally arrived with a 14x20" bass drum that was missing its paper tag. Its previous owner sent along a bass drum that is a better match for this set both in its condition and its serial number, which lines up closely with the 9x13". The 16" floor tom may have been added at a later date, but is a superb match to this set! These drums sound excellent, we already have a video with the 14x20" and may revisit with the 22".
