This is a relisting of an excellent 1971 Southern jumbo deluxe sunburst. This particular instrument has received a brand new 6105 stainless steel re-fret In addition to a hand made nut and saddle that were fit with bone. Finally it was given a stellar set up by a professional Luther. Included is a set of slotted pearl bridge pins.
This instrument plays amazingly smooth with low action and killer warm tone. There was one crack near the Rosetta that I had repaired. Also a couple scratches and nicks here and there as would be expected from a Guitar of this fine age.
This guitar was given a professional neck reset sometime ago and there is a small angle on the last fret where it meets the Rosetta. The neck, however, is perfectly straight. The combination of the Rosewood fretboard, and the new 6105 Stainless Steal Re-fret brings it more similar to the pre-war versions of this classic Gibson American model. Includes MBT flight case.
In 1970 to 1978 the SJ southern jumbo was renamed the Gibson SJ Deluxe Southern Jumbo non adjustable saddles in 1970, unbound fingerboards in 1972 and 4 ply binding from 1974 to 1978.
Round shouldered SJ models were reintroduced in 1991 in vintage finishes and Hank William JR guitars were introduced in 1997 and were renamed Southern Jumbo in 1999.
