Today at EGV, we have a vintage/modern Jag-Stang Blaster. I think that’s what all the kids are calling modded offsets these days.
This is a pretty unique hybrid of modern and vintage. With the vintage 60’s nitro Mustang neck and vintage 70’s Wide-Range tele pickups, you get the sound and feel of playing a real deal vintage Fender. But the modern semi-hollow Jaguar body paired with a Mastery Bridge and Tremolo, you get modern playability and looks.
The neck is a 1966 Fender Mustang neck that was heavily played when I bought it, so I had the frets redone and it plays better than any of my original 60’s Jaguars. The tuners were custom made by Sperzel here in Cleveland to match the green on the body. The original nitro finish is played in beautifully, and feels like the quintessential broken in vintage Fender neck custom shops only dream of recreating.
The pickups are original 70’s Fender Wide-Range humbuckers designed by Seth Lover, and sound fantastic. As close as Fender has came to copying their vintage pickups, nobody today can replicate 50+ year old magnet material.
The body was custom made by Saylor guitars, and the finish was done by Attila Custom Guitars. Attila went with a paper thin modern poly finish to let the semi-hollow body resonate without restriction, it is impossible to put nitro on as thin as this finish is. There are a couple of dings in the body I did my best to photograph above.
The bridge and vibrato are both modern Mastery, and function just as you would expect.
This is a one of a kind build using the best of both vintage and modern guitars! Vintage feel and tone combined with modern playability.
