Trump Dreadnought with Vintage Case

Trump D-18 style Dreadnought Guitar with a vintage case. 

This is a rare vintage Trump Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar. The guitar plays well and actually sounds quite good with a deep full body tone, good bass and treble quite amazing for a laminate guitar, spruce top, mahogany back and sides. Not sure of the age, year or location of manufacture but it appears to be a guitar of the 1960's to 1980's. There is a Trump oval headstock icon but the paper label inside the body visible through the sound-hole has deteriorated or been mostly removed. Information online says Trump vintage acoustics were made in Japan although I am not sure of place of manufacture but with its rough condition it seems sturdily constructed.

The guitar has had lot of use, scratches, scrapes, dings as well as other normal wear that you would find in a guitar this old. Guitar feels light. It is a steel string acoustic guitar with light gauge 12-54 steel strings installed now but the former owner used classical nylon strings and there is no fret wear detectable.

On this guitar the mechanism that allows the saddle holder to be raised or lowered by screwing in or out two screws on each end of this base plate is bottomed out as the guitar sounds best with the saddle holder sitting solidly in contact with the bridge wood. So to lower saddle height the saddle would be pulled out of the bracket holder and sanded to lower action as a standard bridge saddle. So this guitar is described as that mechanism not working and intended this saddle holder bracket is to sit bottomed out and saddle height to be adjusted on the saddle itself as you would on modern acoustic guitars. The bridge is very sturdily attached as besides being glued there are two very small screws, under the abalone dots, that hold the saddle to the top.

The case this is selling with, is the first one shown, the orangish/golden lined one (disregard the black plastic molded case shown in some of the photos). The case is a tolex type vinyl covered plywood plush lined case. Inside length of 41-7/8" outside length 42-1/2". Inside width of 16-1/2" outside width of 17". Inside depth of 5-1/2" outside depth of 6-1/4". This dreadnought case is a nice vintage case in good condition with no stink inside and will fit most 6 string dreadnought guitars including this Trump D and it may be a good fit for other vintage "standard dreadnought" guitars, (check dimensions if you might want this case for another guitar). This case won't fit 12 string guitars (longer) or arch back (or top) dreadnoughts (deeper bodies). It won't fit 12 fret dreadnoughts (bodies too long). The pull tab to open the accessory compartment is partly missing but there is still enough there that you can open the lid (I have repaired these before by removing old tab, cutting a leather tab and riveting it in place. The Trump guitar has an overall length of between 3/8" to 1/2" longer then a D-28 HD-28. Vintage cases like this are fairly rare, if you do a search for 'Vintage Dreadnought Case' you will see some are very expensive even being in what looks like very poor and worn shape.
