A rare Mosrite 4-digit serial number "V-65" pearl white color has arrived! It weighs a reasonable 3.73kg or 8.22lbs.

As the name suggests, The Ventures Model V-65 is a reissue model with 1965 specifications, famous for being used by surf rock instrumentalists The Ventures. This example was made in the USA as indicated by the included "Crafted with pride in the USA" tag and Made in USA sticker. It features a great sounding set of original pickups controlled via a 3-way switch, single volume and tone controls and the original Dimarzio pots.

The maple neck is in a comfortable, modestly proportioned C profile with a substantial volute, Grover Deluxe vintage style tuners, and both a Ventures and Mosrite of California logo. The 22 frets have seen some use and, while low, are still functional. The fretboard, with the serial number engraved at the highest position, appears to be ebony and has signs of wear from string bends, mostly within the first 6 frets. Rest assured that this doesn't hinder playability. The basswood body features a pearl white poly finish that has yellowed over time, and is equipped with the original roller saddle and vibramute tremolo bridge assembly.

Playability is a breeze with low action and a light, smooth tremolo arm. The guitar is very loud and resonant acoustically and when plugged in sounds every bit the Mosrite it is, lending itself equally to drippy surf sounds or raging punk.

Cosmetically there are the aforementioned signs of aging of the finish and wear to the fretboard. Scratches are minimal and while there is the odd tiny ding here and there the guitar is very clean overall.

When examining a truss rod on a straight neck, we check that it can turn up to about 45 degrees in both directions. When we say the truss rod can be adjusted, we mean it can be adjusted up to 45 degrees. Anything beyond that risks damaging the instrument.
