Here is a Takamine 12 string made in 1978 when Japanese guitar makers were copying American models so closely that subsequent lawsuits brought changes to Japanese models going forward. There is a rubber stamp on the inside bracing that gives the date made. march 30 1978. This guitar is one of the last versions that still had, in this case, specs that were almost identical to a classic American guitar maker . Not only were the specs identical, but the headstock and logo graphics were also very similar. this company did not actually ever sue Takamine (other manufacturers did) but had communications with them that led to Takamine changing their logo design. From a short distance this guitar looks like a classic American acoustic, although it certainly is a Takamine.
