This is a Kramer Forum III neck through PJ bass made at the ESP factory in Japan in 1986. These came with passive Spector branded pickups but this had original recipe tan back EMG pickups installed a long time ago. The original owner played in a glam metal band in LA during the 80s and it shows. It was professionally refretted in the 1990s in LA so the frets are essentially brand new. It was traded into a store in Arizona from which I bought it recently.
Neck through construction with what looks like alder or basswood. Beautiful ebony fretboard with diamond inlays. Schaller roller bridge, volume/tone/3 way switch. Neck is very flat but comfortable, 1 5/8" nut width. Looks like a bone replacement nut.
The body has substantial dents and scratches all over it. I can only imagine what stories this bass would have if it could talk. The headstock point has probably the most damage as to be expected but there are no structural problems or breaks. The headstock has screw holes from a string retainer but I don't think this needs one. Truss rod cover is from a Kramer Striker bass that I sanded to fit. Otherwise everything else is stock minus the pickups and probably the nut. I can send you more pictures if you want of anything specific.
The case is a Charvel 1/2/3/4B chainsaw case from the 80s that I bought with all of its latches broken. I bought 4 new latches matching what the originals would be, JB welded sheet metal plates over the holes in the case on both sides and riveted the latches on. They hold as good as new. The rest of the case has some other parts I didn't fix but it fits this guitar perfectly with no movement.
Comes with a brand new zebra print strap.
You can feel the history in this bass when you pick it up and it deserves a good home.
