Today I have a Classic Vibe Telecaster with an aftermarket maple on maple neck. The guy I got it from removed the original neck because he liked it. The pickguard is also a nice aluminum one.
For some reason he also had a huge Bigsby style vibrato installed. I removed it and filled the screw holes. He even had someone grind notches in the base plate for the strings to go through instead of using a flat base plate. This guitar is fairly heavy, being made of pine, and that vibrato has to weigh a pound.
The neck is ”New-B” stock. “New” means that I have not done any fret leveling or dressing. It also means that I have not done any more than a very cursory setup to check out operability. Plan on needing a setup just like a $3000 LP. There are some hairline cracks in the finish on the fretboard between some of the highest frets. Picture 9 above.
There is also a decent size chip on the back edge. I did just enough to stabilize it. The rest of the body is in good shape.
This is a Classic Vibe body. If you would like me to photograph the back of the pickups let me know. Otherwise I’m not going to remove any body parts. This neck is “New-B” stock so it is likely to need fret work and is likely to need set up.
DISCLAIMER: If the guitar needs to be set up to personal playing preference it will be at your expense. Also, understand that severe changes in temperature will likely alter the setup such as 40 degree truck to air conditioned warehouse several times.
This instrument is covered by my shop 7 day satisfaction return policy so you can buy with confidence. Setup is not covered under the return policy. Returns must be in the original packaging and in “as pictured“ condition. Return shipping under the return policy is the responsibility of the buyer.
A GUITAR THAT NEEDS SET UP IS NOT BROKEN. In order to return a guitar for setup issues, you must have video of a qualified guitar repair technician stating that the guitar is unable to be set up WITHIN 7 DAYS.
I can’t ship to a PO Box, residential or business address only. Lots of pictures. Please ask any questions prior to purchasing.
Please remember that setup is the responsibility of the buyer at the buyer’s expense. Setup can include…
- fret leveling and dressing,
- adjusting string height by both saddle height and using the trussrod.
- Possibly needing a shim
- Cleaning potentiometers, switches or other electronics
- Tighten retaining nuts
- May include other needed adjustments
Sorry for having to beat that dead horse. Thanks for looking.
