Yamaha CA-810, CA-810

Offered for your consideration is a Yamaha CA-810 amplifier and CT-810 tuner. I have gone through each and recapped both primarily with Nichicon, Panasonic and Kemet electrolytic capacitors. The smaller uF values were replaced with Wima film capacitors. Any component that was subjected to heat and stressed over the years was replaced with a modern equivalent. On the amplifier, this includes all of the diodes and resistors that showed heat damage . The speaker relay was replaced on the amplifier with a new Omron relay. The power supplies were rebuilt on each unit including new filter capacitors. The amplification transistors on the amplifier are new. The BIAS trimmers are new Bourns multi-turn units. All of the solder joints have been reflowed to eliminate any cracked or cold solder joints. The speaker binders on the amplifier have been replaced with banana plug connectors. All of the lamps have been replaced in both units. I set the BIAS on the amplifier per the service manual. I did not adjust or change any settings on the tuner as it was able to pull in weak stations easily and more importantly, I do not have the required equipment to be able to properly align a tuner. All of the controls were cleaned and lubricated

The wood cases are in Fair to Good condition. Normally on these amps and tuner I would remove the simulated walnut vinyl and apply oak, walnut or cherry wood veneer to restore the cabinets to new condition. I have left these as they are. I did clean them up to rid them of 40 plus years of cigarette and pet odors and stains. The insides were vacuumed and wiped down. Neither unit is pristine as each has some scratches and marks from the past 40 years of use. The face on each unit is however in very good condition. I am offering these as repaired, ready to use. They are not restored but are in good condition and would make a great starter set for anyone looking to explore vintage audio or if you are looking for the right set to restore, then these would be a good place to start.
