For Sale: 1985 Kramer Pacer Imperial - Creme
Serial Number: C6636
Weight: 10.2 lbs

I'm offering my 1985 Kramer Pacer Imperial in a beautifully aged creme finish. This USA-made classic is a true embodiment of 80s rock, delivering exceptional tone, sustain, and playability. A hardshell case is included.

Features and Specifications:

  • Body: Solid maple for outstanding resonance and sustain.
  • Neck: Maple with a rosewood fretboard.
  • Hardware: Schaller tuners and a non-recessed, wood-screw Floyd Rose bridge.

Pickups and Wiring:

When I purchased this guitar, the pickups were not original. I sourced and installed a set of period-correct humbuckers to restore the guitar’s authenticity. The pickups have a bit of a smoky smell when you put your nose right up to them, but is not noticeable otherwise. I also think the pots may have been replaced at some point. While the wiring has been modified, I believe it has been returned to its original configuration.

Neck and Playability:

  • The neck includes a 1-degree wood shim, likely added by a previous luthier. I briefly removed it but realized it was necessary for achieving proper action.
  • The frets have plenty of life left and were recently dressed and polished.
  • The scarf joint has remained stable over the years with no signs of movement.

Condition:

This nearly 40-year-old guitar has been played regularly, giving it a beautiful vintage patina and unique character:

  • Body: The creme finish has aged wonderfully, with patina most visible around the horns and rear body contour.
    • Two small dings: one on the upper bout waist and another near the bridge under the tremolo bar.
    • A minor scratch in the clear coat on the forearm contour.
  • Neck: Light scratches, small dings, and some wear on the back of the neck.
  • Headstock: No cracks, though it does have a few small dings and scratches. It appears someone may have used a Sharpie around the edges (not entirely sure).
  • Miscellaneous: The tremolo cavity cover plate is missing one screw. The switch and switch tip may have been replaced at some point. I'm not sure if the knobs are original or not.

This guitar features the original 80s Floyd Rose tremolo. While the tremolo arm has a slight wobble, it still functions perfectly. The case is non-original, as someone spray-painted a Kramer logo on it. No case candy is included, except for a case key.

Additional Info:

For verification, you can check out vintagekramer.com > Parts and Finished > Kramer Registry, where an old photo of this guitar under serial number C6636 is featured. It shows how the guitar appeared before I restored the pickups and hardware to their original configuration.

Based on my research from vintagekramer.com, I believe this guitar is from 1985.

Shipping:

I typically ship orders the day after payment is received. I currently sell and ship only within the United States. Orders placed through reshippers or forwarding services intended for delivery outside the U.S. are not permitted and may be canceled.
