The Vahlbruch KALUNA is an overdrive/distortion pedal developed from scratch, in whose 100% analogue circuit an ECC83/12AX7 double triode tube operated at 250 volts forms the heart. The high voltage required for this type of tube circuit is generated independently inside the pedal from the standard 9V power supply and is responsible for the ‘correct’ overtone content, the certain overdrive transparency, the percussive attack behaviour and the typically complex compression that we all know and love from overdriven tube amplifiers.

Switching concept: The footswitch is designed as a button without a perceptible pressure point. A magnet is incorporated into the head of the button, the position of which is detected by a sensor inside the device. If the button is now moved, e.g. when it is pressed downwards, the magnet moves with it and thus changes its position. The sensor measures this change without contact and transmits it via a micro-controller to a gold-plated relay, which carries out the switching process in the circuit.
