2021 D’Angelico EXL-1. This guitar has been upgraded with a Kent Armstrong Johnny Smith Mini-Humbucker (Handmade, 12-pole), and includes a hard shell Crossrock jumbo case.
D'Angelico re-introduced this model in 2021 with a low-luster finish, which looks amazing, and sounds markedly better unplugged with flat wound strings. Easy player, drop-dead looker, sounds great plugged in or acoustically. This is a lot of guitar for very little investment, especially with the KA pickup.
The headstock had some damage to one of the "points" which was expertly repaired (barely visible from the front, more visible from the back). Also a few spots of checking which of course just adds to the character.
