I wish I knew more about the history of this guitar, but the previous owner has disappeared from the area. It appears to be a 1960/61 Stratocaster and was owned by a serious blues player for the last few decades. He lost the guitar through various legal and drug-related issues, and my consignor has owned it for about five years. It was acquired by the previous owner around 20 years ago.
The pickups were replaced by RJF Guitars around 10 years ago with a BlackFace Lollar at the neck, and Custom Shop reissues at the other positions. It has correct indented vintage replacement CTS pots and a vintage "phonebook" cap.
It sounds amazing. This is a true bluesman's axe and not some recently reconstructed relic. There is some very serious mojo attached to this guitar, and it has reportedly shared the stage with some very famous bluesmen.
It is in as-found condition, as presented in the photographs. The fretboard is worn, and the finish has not been redone. The seller is motivated.
