Original 1971 Fender Stratocaster neck with new fingerboard
Neck Material and Construction: maple
Skunk Stripe: Maple necks included a skunk stripe
Neck Profile and Dimensions:
- 1 5/8" width (hence the "B" stamp)
- Brazilian rosewood fingerboard
- New Jumbo frets & nut
- Fingerboard edges have been slightly "rolled over" for a smooth worn in feel.
- Profile: The neck profile varied, with some instruments featuring a medium to chunky “C” shape.
- Dimensions: Approximate measurements indicate a depth of 21mm at the 1st fret and 23mm at the 12th fret.
- Material: Maple neck
- Neck Attachment: Three (3) Bolt with micro-tilt adjustment system
Stamped 22 (Fender code for Stratocaster model) and dated December 1971
Radius: 12" radius.
Truss Rod: truss rod adjustments moved from the body end to a “bullet” style nut at the headstock during fretboard replacement.
The original truss rod and tuners as well as micro tilt mechanism all work flawlessly and are in MINT condition
Headstock:
• Size: The large headstock design, introduced in the mid-1960s, remained in use during 1971.
• Logo: Featured the black CBS logo with patent numbers.
It’s important to note that Fender’s manufacturing processes in the early 1970s often resulted in variations. Therefore, individual 1971 Stratocaster necks may exhibit differences in profile and specifications.
