Check out the video. Here is a very nice early 60's Roger wood Dyna-sonic snare drum, 5x14" with a 3-ply shell in its original white marine pearl wrap! These transition-era drums had fruitwood interiors and the new beavertail lugs with lower profile rims. This one's serial number is #4263 and it is in overall great condition with some minor discoloration to its wrap and a reproduction modern Rogers snare bridge that it is currently outfitted with.

Steve's Notes: From my personal collection. This is an incredible sounding 60s era Rogers wood Dynasonic snare in WMP. I have always been a fan of these drums and have collected them for decades. This is a drum I had in the past and recently received it back. Since I have my personal playing WMP 5x14 and 6.5x14, plus Louie Bellson’s 5x14, I can make this one available to the next “caretaker”. This is a transition-era drum, which means it was built around the time that Rogers switched from:

- 3 ply shell, fruitwood stain, tall profile rims, and the “crack-prone” B&B lugs over to the;

- 5 ply shell, clear coat lacquer interior, beavertail lugs, and lower profile rims.

Occasionally, we see a “transition drum” such as this, where there is a combination of features from both eras. For this drum, the shell is still the 3 ply with fruitwood stain, but the lugs are beavertail, and it has the lower profile rims. These are very rare. But, the best part is the sound. This drum is absolutely incredible. There’s a reason why Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson loved these!

Of course, Rogers now has the new repro wood dyna snares, which was a project where I assisted in the R&D work and loaned them two of my originals for the specs. Those drums are really nice. BUT, this is the “real deal” with aged wood and incredible sound. This drum is worthy of the finest Rogers collection, but even more so, it is worthy of sitting behind a kit and doing what it was made to do: make music!
