Mosrite The Ventures Model Mark II “Johnny Ramone” 1990’s - Japan - White

For sale we have a killer all-original 1990’s Mosrite The Ventures Model Mark II in white finish with hardshell case. The Mark II was famously played by Johnny Ramone. This is the very first and most highly accurate reissue of that instrument. Beautifully crafted by the Kurokomo factory in Japan and vintage in its own right, this extremely faithful remake shares the visual appearance and sonic power of Johnny’s original. From the mismatched knobs to the Gibson style switch-ring, Grover Rotomatic tuners and properly placed stoptail, this guitar checks all of the boxes. The original pair of pickups include a single-coil Dimarzio in the bridge with a strong output and sparkling authoritative cut, and a warm fat-sounding Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck position. The Maple neck features a medium “C” shape profile carve measuring .840” deep at the first fret and .875” deep at the twelfth fret. Width at the nut measures 1 9/16”. The Rosewood fingerboard features a 12” radius, white mini-dot inlaid fret markers and 22 original slender frets (+zero fret). The frets show some play wear with light divots in frets 1-9 but have good life left in them. Notes cleanly with no dead spots. The guitar’s scale length is 24 3/4”. The headstock features the most correct Mosrite badging of any Johnny Ramone-centric model with the Mosrite text oriented vertically and “The Ventures II Model” logo at the top. The electronics function as intended, and the knobs are the correct combination of a knurled Volume knob and reflector cap Tone knob. The nickel-plated bridge shows uniform surface patina. The gloss finish is a bright white with sparingly little aging of the clear coat, and cosmetic wear is limited to some pick scuffing across the one-ply guard and a few tiny nicks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, mostly relegated to the back and body parameter. The guitar weighs in at 7 lbs. 13 oz.
