The iconic 80's metal amp, JCM 800 2203 100 watt master volume MKII. This is a 1990 according to the serial and component codes, one of the very last. You won't see too many after 1989. These were only made as late as early 1990. These horizontal input 800's are more aggressive than the vertical in my opinion. Players tend to have a preference of one of the other whether they have really tried both that's another story. These 800 master volume amps all sound fantastic! This amp has been freshly serviced. The main filter caps were replaced with F&T brand capacitors, F&T Capacitors has over 60 years of experience in producing some of the finest capacitors available today. They are known for their great reliability. The bias filter capacitors were also replaced with sprague ATOM. Power tubes are lightly used Svetlana Winged C EL34's. They test very well and are a nice quad. Some of the best and most reliable tubes ever on the market, hard to find today. A favorite in Marshall amplifiers. Preamp tubes are brand new JJ ECC83s the highest gain 12AX7 available. Balanced triodes in the phase inverter position. High gain rated V1 and V2. Power transformer and choke are certainly original, Output transformer may have been swapped out at one point since theres some signs of resoldering on the output switches and the bell cover screws on a Dagnall are generally in the middle, not the top. If it was they used the original bell cover which retains the Dagnall code. It was done cleanly would take an expert eye to even spot it and it certainly doesn't have an negative effect on the sound. Once you hear this in person you'll forget all about it. This amp screams. I've played dozens of these and this one really does sound superb. No shoddy repairs inside, almost all electronics are original other than the aforementioned preventative maintenance replacements. Superior vintage tone with the reliability of a refurbished amplifier. Cosmetically it certainly shows some wear and tear. Dings and tears in the tolex, scuffs and bumps. Missing the handle caps. Someone at one point labeled the tube positions on the chassis alphabetically. Its pretty faded but its there. Bottom line. If you're looking for a fully numbers matching clean closet queen to show your friends after your golf outing this probably isn't for you but if you want to rule the stage and please your ears this is the one. Trust me, you'll love how this one sounds. This is a real refurbished quality example of the real deal Marshall, accept no clones or imitations. Join the masses of legendary players who have used one of these over the years. Demand is higher than ever for these 2203 amps and they are getting scarce, get it while its here.
