innerTUBE Audio IA87 Retrofit Kit - upgrade your Neumann U87 Ai to a tube mic with an infinitely variable polar pattern from omni to figure 8.
Used it on a couple of projects, and it smooths out and fattens up the sound a bit compared to the solid state electronics. The infinitely variable polar pattern means you can close your eyes and adjust for the best sound, for example using it in omni it means you can roll off low rumble without resorting to the fixed HPF. Surprisingly good on bass amp. You can change it over in less than a minute, just keep an eye on the pins. FYI Pattern switch on capsule must be in figure 8 to work.
