Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rarer 1940's era Electro Voice 630 model set at High impedance which makes for a good general purpose mic and an even better harp mic today. This harder to come by 630 comes with the short vintage cable in which to operate and a new exterior pop filter for better sound performance that you can use or discard depending on the situation. This 630 was an affordable option to the more expensive dynamic cardioid mics of the day like the Electro Voice 664 model.

Pic # 2 shows this very model along with several other older 40's era E.V microphones from an old catalog I have.

This model of mic was used by many musicians back in the 50's including Jerry Lee Lewis and Marilyn Monroe while performing live at a U.S.O  show in the early 1950's as seen in picture # 3.

It should be noted right away that the element in this mic is in perfect working condition with 100% output. It has a grittier tone that is void of bass so it's good for HAM radio operation and even better as a harp mic. Actually one of the best harp mics a musician could possibly use.

Easier to cup and really explodes once brought in close. Blistering overdrive on these mics.

There is typical lite cosmetic wear on the polished chrome housing in the form of very fine scratches & pitting from years of use. No heavy corrosion or fractures however and they rarely come nicer than this. The chrome still has a beautiful luster and the look of the mic was a classic style emulating the design of the jet turbine engines being used by American and Soviet fighter planes of the day. The threads for the cable and stand are perfect with zero stripping. The E.V badge looks beautiful and the on / off switch works just as it should. Overall this piece is an easy 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. The joint mechanism works perfectly with plenty of tension.

This 630 model mic comes with the short 3 pin cable of course. The cable itself is soft, pliable and appx 9 long. The cable comes with a male Cannon XLR end connector. No issues. Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice to operate the mic.

Again, the exterior black foam pop filter is included. It's in perfect condition and great to use if you intend on using this for broadcasting purposes. It really does help to clean up the sound of the mic. Seriously reduces the "pops" you get when speaking up close to any 630 model mic. You don't need to use the pop filter but you'll probably appreciate the improvement in sound quality with it on.

This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

This will make a nice display piece anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office even if you choose not to actually use it.
