Ludwig WFL 24/13/16/5x14" VIDEO. Early 50's Super Classic Drum Set - White Marine Pearl w/ Original calf heads, hardware, time capsule set!

Here is an extremely well kept, one-owner set of vintage late 1940's WFL drums! These 3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany drums are sized 14x24", 9x13", 16x16", and 5.5x14". The snare drum and bass drum both boast a silver WFL badge, while the toms have the more common bronze badge, dating this set to the late 40's during the transition period between those two particular badges. The wrap on this set is in excellent condition with a few instances of minuscule cracking in its surface. These cracks are nowhere near lifting or becoming a threat to the sturdiness of the wrap, but are worth noting. There is one 4-inch long strip of inlay missing from the bass drum hoop that could be relocated to the bottom of the bass drum, but there are two wear spots from the clip on spurs attaching over the years. While clip-on spurs did not arrive with this set, we've outfitted in with modern Danmar spurs and felt to protect the hoop.

This set's COB hoops and all of its chrome are in excellent shape with just a little room to polish up to what we're sure would look nearly new. With the exception of the snare drum, the internal tone controls are all present and functional including the double-sided bass drum muffler. Original hardware included: some of this hardware may not necessarily have come with the outfit, but is period correct to it. Two cymbal stands, one hihat stand, one snare stand, and one Speed King pedal, all in functional condition!

Incredibly and perhaps coolest of all, this set is still fitted with its original calf skin heads on every drum including its original owner's resonant bass drum head! If you do not want this head, we can swap it with a smooth white WFL logo head at no additional charge and return that head to this set's family. All of the calf heads are in great shape with the exception of the snare drum batter head, which has a just couple pinholes in it. Even the snare drum's resonant side head is original calf and in excellent shape!

Right now, the only head that has been removed from this set is the batter side of the 9x13" so that we could install a repro slotted diamond bracket. We've also installed a repro short spade to the top of the rail. We'll include the original parts with this sale (see last photo), but they were letting the 9x13" droop into the rail, so we replaced the diamond bracket. We've taken some photos through the badge grommets and looked - the interiors of these drums look as fresh as can be.
