In early 1979 the Musicaid shop in St. Albans released the SDS IV Drum Synthesizer, a smaller 2-channel version of the SDS III Drum Synthesizer 5-channel model that had been released just a few months before. The SDS IV (known as the SDS Combo in the USA) was triggered by two drum pads put together using parts made by Premier Percussion, using small speaker pickups mounted internally between two layers of foam to trigger the drum synthesizer module.

The SDS IV and SDS III sold in relatively small numbers, with approximately 125 units of each model released until Dave Simmons, with significant input from Richard James Burgess (of the electro-jazz band Landscape) produced the ground-breaking SDS V drum synthesizer module and hexagonal electronic drum pads in late-1980.

This black and white print publication has been assembled by the author Alex Graham based on extensive testing and evaluation of his SDS IV kit - no other manual for the SDS IV appears to exist some 45 years after it was released.

A bonus section provides a short history of Musicaid and the four products manufactured during the years 1978-1981: SDS III, SDS IV, Clap Trap, and SDS V kit.

Book is printed in English in black and white, 44 pages (dimensions 23cm by 15cm by 0.3cmW)
