Steve’s Notes: This set is from my personal collection. As many of you know, I don’t feel as if I “own” the majority of the drums in my collection. I prefer to think of myself as the current “caretaker”. So, periodically I select items from my collection and make them available to the next caretaker. This set is one of those items.

- This initially started with my desire to have a tribute kit in the configuration that Joe Morello used in his years with Marian McPartland and then with Dave Brubeck. I acquired a superb 9x13, 16x16, 14x22 pre-serial number set along with a 5x14 pre serial COB Supraphonic 400. (I had previously sold Joe’s original Brubeck era kit and his COB Supra that he used with Marian, so I wanted this as a reminder and a point of reference for my museum, so that we could talk about Joe and show an example of what he used).

- I then decided to enhance this set to make it as complete as possible for such a fabulous example of 60s Ludwig. So, I searched for and acquired a matching 5x14 Super Classic pre serial number, and also a 5x14 Jazz Fest and a 6.5x14 Super Classic. These last two drums are 60s era with badges. All of the silver sparkle drums match beautifully.

- I then added a 60s era silver sparkle canister throne.

- I then added a complete set of period correct flat based Ludwig stands and pedals with Speed King bass drum pedal.

So, what you see here is not only a tribute to the great Joe Morello, but arguably, one of the most complete set-ups for the incredible 60s era Ludwig drums. Take a step back in time….

My preference is to sell this as a complete set and not separate any of these items from the set. Ideal for any Joe Morello fan, and any fane of the wonderful 60s era Ludwig drums.
