Here's an interesting old S.S. Stewart archtop guitar that I think may be from the 1940's or so. It appears to be a Harmony built guitar, and the model number stamped inside is 828H1328 (I think- the ink is a little faded as you can see in the photos). The guitar is finished in sunburst, and it features simulated 'flame' on the back and sides which actually looks pretty good. It has a bound top and back, and the top also features fancy and intricate multi color wood inlay at the edges. It still has the pickguard, which may be made of celluloid. The guitar has been played a bit and shows the expected small dings, chips and other signs of normal use. But for a 75+ year old guitar it's not too bad, and I don't see any cracks or signs of repairs. The neck is straight, and the frets show the typical wear from decades of play, but I don't get any buzzing or dead notes when playing. The action isn't too bad for an old Harmony archtop, but the bridge is about all the way down. I'm including photos showing the string height over the fingerboard and as it meets the body so you can see what I mean. There is a very slight gap at the heel, about wide enough to slide the edge of a sheet of paper in it. The lower portion of the body is 15 1/2 inches wide, the waist is 9 inches wide, and the upper body is 11 inches wide. The tuners do appear to be changed as well. The guitar will be well packed, and it will include the old chipboard case you see in the photos.
