David Garibaldi's Tower of Power Zildjian 22" Ride 3728g.
David Garibaldi has retired from Tower of Power! David's innovative grooves propelled the band and helped define their unique funky sound. After an amazing 55 year run, he's putting away his Tower of Power sticks.
His ground breaking work with Tower of Power and his long list of instructional books and videos, have established him as one of the most influential drummers of our time.
This cymbal is the crown jewel of David's entire Tower of Power cymbal collection. This early 1970s Zildjian 22" Ride cymbal was David Garibaldi's "go-to" Tower of Power ride cymbal in the early 1970s. He bought it in 1972 in preparation for recording the bands second album. He used the cymbal to record their 1973 album "Tower of Power" and 1974 album "Back To Oakland". These albums included some of the bands biggest hits including "So Very Hard to Go", "This Time It's Real", "Squib Cakes", "The Oakland Stroke", and "What Is Hip?". He played the cymbal in live performances between 1973 and 1977.
See and hear this cymbal in the live 1973 Tower of Power video below.
The cymbal remains in excellent condition with no notable issues. It has a nice funky feel, great stick articulation, nice controlled sustain and an extremely nice bell.
David hand signed the cymbal "Tower of Power, Back To Oakland".
