I suppose I could go on about David Lindley and his vast influence on all things lap steel-related. As you know, David had one of these, and I just witnessed (via the miracle of YouTube) David laying me to waste with his rendition of Mercury Blues. How's that, Dave?
You know that gal I love.
I stole her from a friend.
Fool got lucky, stole her back again.
Well, you didn't need her anyway. As for this? It's cool, it’s flashy and sounds eerie, like whatever that was that walked off the spaceship in "The Day the Earth Stood Still." As you know, these were originally made by Walt Smith, but this one was made by his son Ted. As far as I can tell, this one in white primer has a brass bridge, Kluson keys, and the pickups (I believe are Kent Armstrong, but I can't confirm this). The condition? I'd say excellent; this one has just a bit of discoloration near the neck joint, yellow if you will, but nothing that will detract from your Running On Empty experience. Case? No, I received this in a Gator keyboard gig bag. Also included is the plug-in eight-ball so you can give your leg a rest.
In closing, why not? I mean, if you're going to have one, don't be predictable. Predictable is boring. You may as well look like you just showed up backstage in leather at a Scorpions concert. I hear the ladies love it.
