Here we have a really cool vintage Bass VI from Fender! This 1963 build features an ash body with a blonde finish.

The bass is in very good shape physically with some changed parts to note. The tuners are a set of aged Klusons. The knobs, pots, capacitor, and jack are all modern components. The neck pickup has been rewound. Otherwise, the finish, guard, bridge, tailpiece, other parts and other electronics are original.

This Bass VI still sports its original factory translucent blonde finish. The neck is figured maple, also with its original finish in-tact. The fretboard is nice and dark with clay dot inlays. The original frets are in good functioning shape. The body shows heavy checking as well as light dings and scratches. The neck shows wear but looks nice ultimately. The pickguard shows some cracks from shrinking and the metal parts show oxidation.

The bass weighs 8lbs 5oz. The neck measures .810 to .980 at the 1st and 12th. It has an A nut that is 1.5" wide. The neck profile is a full medium C down low, with a subtly fatter shoulder higher up the register. It has a warm punch off of the body with a touch of natural reverb emanating from deep within. It plays easily in all positions. It has nice color, warmth and overtones, all of which seem more prominent due to the ash body.

Overall this is a wonderful bass. It includes the original case which has a replaced handle. It also includes the original tremolo arm and a set of ancient flat wounds.
