Steve’s notes: We’re proud to have purchased the entire group of sets used for the 2024 Monterey Jazz Festival. These sets were played by some of the best players on the jazz scene today. No better combination than great jazz, great drummers, and That Great Gretsch Sound! Grab yours now.
This listing is for a Gretsch Broadkaster finished in satin purple and sized 14x20", 7x10", 8x12", and 16x16" with a matching 6.5x14" 8-lug snare drum - available without snare drum for $3,726. This set picked up some notable cosmetic wear, making this set even further discounted than our other Monterey backline sets! The 7x10" and 8x12" have a pea-sized gouges, the 16x16" has a scuff about the size of a palm, and the 14x20" has a small scratch in its batter side bass drum hoop. The 14x20" and 16x16" have been pictured with the Remo logo on the head oriented with the Gretsch badge to help display where these cosmetic blemishes are located, and the 10" and 12" has the Remo logo oriented with the direct to shell bracket; between the badges. All this to say, these blemishes predominately face the player.
Add/remove 5.5x14" 8-lug snare drum (mint condition) - add/subtract $647
Add/remove 6.5x14" 8-lug snare drum (mint condition) - add/subtract $683
The 10" and 12” toms are both outfitted with direct-to-shell mounting brackets and are double badged to allow for multiple setups without losing the visible Gretsch badge. A double tom mount post is included with this set.
Here is a few words from Gretsch on their Broadkaster line:
"From the 1920s through the 1950s, the Gretsch flagship drum set was the legendary Broadkaster Series. It featured a thin, three-ply shell and produced what was to be, “That Great Gretsch Sound.” Today, in the Gretsch Drum Factory in Ridgeland, South Carolina, USA, with the help of advanced drum-making techniques, the Broadkaster has returned, bringing with it all of sonic brilliance of its namesake.
Broadkaster shells are made with a North American maple/poplar/maple formula. Each shell includes an interior-ply scarf joint that supplies added structural integrity to thin, musical shells. Like all USA-made Gretsch drums, shell interiors are finished with classic Gretsch Silver Sealer. The shell is hand finished with the exclusive reverse roundover bearing edge, which allows greater surface contact between the bearing edge and drumhead. The result is tone that is incredibly deep and warm."
