This is a 1960s Trutone built by Kay with birch laminate construction. It has a few dings and scratches but the finish is in remarkably nice condition, it is structurally very solid and needed no body repairs.
The poplar neck reset perfectly, it is 25-3/4” scale with the original 1-11/16” bone nut and new vintage –style tuners. I gave the birch fretboard a fresh 12” radius, new Jescar 47104 frets, matched it with my compensated aluminum lightening bridge and the original trapeze. It has a large D carve with a fixed steel trussrod, the action is electric guitar-like low and easy.
I installed one of my hand wound Type13SC gold foil pickups that works great with this big body giving it a clean, rich and full sound.
These guitars were designed for sitting around and strumming in a different era a long time ago that had different musical demands. This is a beautiful guitar professionally rebuilt that you can plug in and strum right now- it plays great and will continue to play great for a long time.
