Fostex A-4 1980s - Gray

Up for grabs is this very sweet little Fostex A-4 Reel to Reel tape recorder — missing a few knobs and needs a tune-up. This machine is, for the most part, fully functional. I have checked a few things and will list them below:

• Record and playback functions on all four channels
• Pulls tape pretty smoothly
• VU Meters are working -- lamps seem to be out
• Fast Forward, Rewind, Play, Return to Zero and Stop functions are operational
• Reels occasionally exhibit some sluggishness when moving to/from high-speed wind or on startup -- likely just needs some basic maintenance/lubrication -- record/playback speeds are consistent and accurate.
• Tape counter is operational
• Sync/Repro switches, record arm switches, and monitor switches appear to be working
• Pitch control is functioning
• Only seems to be working in high-speed mode
• Edit In/Out switch is working
• Heads, Pinch Roller, and other parts of the tape path are in good shape

Please refer to all photos and feel free to ask any questions. This machine is missing the input level control knobs for channels 1 and 3, but all channels are operational on erasure, record, and playback -- other than the knobs this one likely just needs a good bias and alignment.
