Jarrett Ibiza Platinum - holiday sale

These Jarrett guitars with 5A figured wood have sold for 1600 in the past according to our research. We had it listed for 1699. We've gotten some low ball offers and countered with the current price on the listing, so we thought everyone should have that opportunity. It's thin for us, but we can use it to invest in new inventory.

This is a Jarrett Ibiza Platinum guitar, based on the Zaffiro shape. These are no longer being made. Their objective was to offer custom shop type guitars with value pricing. According to our research, they modeled their production process on the major custom shops with CNC cutting for the basics, then expert hand assembly. They tried to bring top quality at a value price. They were built in Westport, Connecticut, with the bodies and necks cut on CNC machines offshore. Their sales volume was boutique level, so not enough to justify an in house CNC machine.

(We've had feedback from low ballers that they're Asian built guitars, which is wrong. Just the CNC was done in Asia. to save you money. They were built in Connecticut. Once the configuration for the CNC is done, any child could push the button. Doesn't matter where the machine sits. If you're hung up on this, you're missing out on a gem.)

The designation, Platinum, was top of the line and fully configurable by the buyer, so this is a custom guitar. Condition is excellent with very little wear. Poly coating is pristine all around. There is one small finish nick on the back of the headstock.

The Ibiza model was closest to an LP, though smaller and lighter weight thanks to chambering. (We list it as semi-hollow since Reverb does not have a "chambered" option.) The single cutaway is deeper than on an LP and easier to reach the top three frets. The body is also shorter, but wider which we found felt a bit more comfortable than an LP shape both sitting and standing. The neck is wider, but not fatter, so not chunky. An interesting touch is a flattening at the jack area on the lower right. Not sure the intent, but it made it easy to find the jack when playing standing.

It has high level figured top with both grain and figuration. We want to be clear, in our studio, most photos turned out to appear to have a glow, like some gemstones. Tiger eye came to mind. However, there is no glow, and we tried to tone that down. It's just a visually stunning top. We also included some other images we found to help represent the top well. (We lost our shop during Covid, and the studio with controlled lighting. Our current photo room has a lot of natural light.)

As for sound and tone, again, think LP. it covers jazz through blues to rock. The push/pull moves you toward single coil tones. If you're looking for a rock guitar that can crunch, but can also back down to almost acoustic type tone, bingo. Great for a song like Allman's Jessica. It's very articulate with clarity of notes in chords, and when pushed with gain and pedals.

If you're looking for a jazz guitar in this format (not a large open acoustic body), this is as good as it gets. You can drive it with amp or pedals to get into popular styles. The mahogany gives it warmth but not dark. We think that comes from the Graphtec Resomax aluminum bridge and tail piece. Please note, it is not a high output guitar, so not suitable for metal. We wouldn't call it a shredder either, but it is very easy to play and supports high speed runs. The thin frets may not appeal to benders, but help with clarity and intonation, especially with a lighter touch.

In sum, from rock to blues to jazz, you're covered. It's well made, top of the line configuration and customization, and visually stunning. Compared to other custom shop type guitars, it's a super value.
