As a result, you will be getting an SM77 that sounds great and will require zero maintenance in the future. Many of these older Shure mics have foam that is either crumbling or even rattling around in the grille, which can affect the frequency response of the microphone. The wear is all on the outer body, which is purely cosmetic, with the internals now well maintained. If you like the Shure SM57, you'll surely like the SM77 and its even lighter and smaller form factor.
