SUPER RARE! 1940's MARCONI Model AXB Ribbon Microphone, BBC w/stand works great

Offering one of the rarest of the rare ribbon microphones!!! A 1940's BBC Marconi Model AXB Velocity (Ribbon) Microphone. (The brass maker's badge on the bottom reads "Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co. Ltd, London".) The BBC both manufactured and used these mics exclusively from 1939 until 1959, with its iconic style in fact representing the BBC itself. It's characteristic shape has also entered popular culture as a symbolic image of broadcasting in general. This rare beauty was acquired from a U.K. collector, and may be only one of a few in the world available for purchase, as most are either in museums or private collections.

      This Marconi mic employs a large heavy iron horseshoe magnet similar to the RCA 44 (see photos.) It's is a HUGE and HEAVY beast, with a combined weight around 15 pounds, measuring 17" in height, and featuring those classic BBC call letters. Physically, the casing is in excellent condition with no dings, and only the mildest signs of wear. It comes with the very heavy desk stand to assure this mic will never tip over, mounted to the yoke with shock mount adapter, and wired to a 4 foot cable with male XLR plug. The ribbon itself is in excellent shape with a typical "figure 8" pickup pattern to help reject sounds from the sides.
