1. History of Hüttl:

Wolfgang Hüttl was a renowned guitar maker, born on June 26, 1921, in the Egerland region. In 1946, after the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans, he arrived in Bubenreuth, where he founded the Hüttl company. His wife was the daughter of Rosa Klier (owner of the Klier company) and served as the business manager. The Hüttl company had its own workshop and employed around 50 people, including home workers. At its peak, the company shipped up to 500 guitars per day. The company gained a reputation for producing unique and reliable instruments that were favored by many musicians of the era. The company existed until 1983. The Hüttl “Beat Star” guitar dates back to the early 1960s and was manufactured in Germany The and is one of the rare solidbody guitars from this period, known for its unique construction and sound quality. These guitars are significantly rarer than comparable Klira, Höfner, and Framus instruments from the same era

2. The Model: The Hüttl Beatstar from 1965 is a rare and highly sought-after model among vintage guitar enthusiasts. This guitar features a solid wood body, likely made from birch, and a thin C-shaped neck, probably crafted from maple with an ebony fingerboard. The Beatstar is equipped with three Schaller single-coil pickups, each measuring approximately 7.6-7.9k, providing a warm, vintage sound ideal for 60s rhythm and retro indie music.

The guitar’s controls include a pickup selector rotary switch (bridge + neck, bridge, middle, neck) and two separate identical circuits controlled by a slider switch, each with individual tone and volume controls. This setup allows for two distinct sounds at the flick of a switch. Additionally, there is a treble circuit that switches to the bridge pickup and removes all bass for a very thin, trebly sound.

3. Condition:

The guitar is in playable good condition with low action. Naturally, due to its age, the guitar has some noticeable signs of wear, as can be seen in the pictures. The electronics work flawlessly and have been serviced again. All parts are 100% original; nothing has been changed to maintain the vintage factor. Unfortunately, the two slider switches are a bit stiff, and sometimes you need to use a screwdriver to help. The frets are still good and allow for further optimization through a fret job, although in my opinion, this is not strictly necessary. The truss rod works perfectly. The guitar has been thoroughly cleaned, the frets polished, the fingerboard oiled and maintained. New strings have been fitted. Please do not buy the guitar if you expect a new instrument. Despite its good playability, the guitar naturally has its described quirks
