RS-230 CV Buffer

The RS230 CV buffer is an electronically active version of the RS170 Multiple. However, unlike the RS170, you should not attempt to use the RS230 to combine the outputs from multiple source modules. It will not act as a mixer.

IN USE The RS230 measures and maintains the voltages applied at its two inputs so that, even if you use all eight outputs, or even chain multiple RS230s, the voltages are not adversely affected as the patch becomes more complex. Each of the module's two banks can be used to distribute a single output from a source to as many as four inputs on other modules. If you patch the banks together, a single output can be directed to as many as seven inputs

RS-95 Advanced voltage controlled oscillator

The RS95 and RS95E are further developments of the RS90 Voltage Controlled Oscillator. They differ from each other only in the addition of a high-resolution vernier potentiometer (similar to that used on the EMS VCS3 and Synthi AKS) on the RS95E. Compared with the RS90, each offers extra waveforms, additional waveshaping, and a third audio output. Consequently, many of the details in this section are identical with those of the RS90.

Enhanced precision voltage controlled oscillator High frequency stability & excellent musical tracking over a ten octave range. Accurate waveforms of sinewave, sawtooth, triangle, square & pulse are available as separate outputs, the waveshapes can be independently voltage controlled. a wide range mode allows the oscillator to operate in both supersonic and subsonic frequency ranges as well as in the audio frequency range. Hard sync input for classic complex lead sounds. 

IN USE The operation of any oscillator can be subdivided into three major categories: its pitch (or 'frequency') its tone (determined by its waveform) and its volume (or 'level'). FREQUENCY The RS95 generate a particularly wide range of frequencies. The minimum - approximately 0.3Hz - is well into the subsonic range, so it will double as an LFO when required. This architecture emulates that of the Minimoog and larger Moog synthesisers such as the IIIC and System 55. At the upper end of the scale, it will produce frequencies of approximately 17kHz, which is beyond many people's upper limit of hearing.

RS-500E EMS Synthi Filter

Genuine Ems synthi filter. This legendary filter can be switched between pre 1974 and post 1974 filter type and response. For the first time response can be voltage controlled which was designed on the circuit board but not available on the matrix.

IN USE The RS500E is a low-pass filter with variable resonance. It is modelled on the filters produced for EMS synthesisers, and shares their principle sonic characteristics.

RS-510E EMS Synthi Trapezoid generator

Genuine Ems trapezoid generator featuring Attack, On, Decay, Off and Trapezoid output level. With v.c of Decay time, status led, Sig in and Sig out, Gate in and Outputs A and B this classic timing generator when used with Rs500e captures the essence of the VCS3 
and Synthi A.

INTRODUCTION The combined contour generator and VCA used in the EMS VCS3 and various Synthis (the "Shaper") is a very clever piece of electronic design, and it allows you to create sounds and effects that are all but impossible on more conventional synthesisers.

The RS510E incorporates both elements of the VCS3 Shaper, comprising two modules that would often be found as separate modules. The first of these is the envelope generator itself, referred to as the Trapezoid Generator. The second is a VCA. We will deal with each of these in turn.

RS-390 Echo

Mono in stereo out echo unit with V.C. for delay time and wet / dry mix

IN USE The RS390 is a 24-bit stereo digital delay line with a sample rate of 46.9kHz, a bandwidth of 22kHZ, and a maximum delay time of approximately three seconds. It offers three delay ranges with CV control, as well as CV control of the dry / wet mix. The input and output converters (ADC and DAC) are 24-bit linear PCM although the RS390 uses 16-bit audio throughout.

RS-400 Phase shift

Classic phase shifter design with V.C. of parameters and built in LFO which is available to the user on a socket.

IN USE The RS400 is a 4-stage phaser with an integrated LFO and CV inputs to control the notch frequencies. It offers variable resonance to create a wide range of phase-shifting effects.

RS-80 VC-LFO

IN USE The RS80 is a flexible LFO with extremely low minimum frequencies (one cycle every 50 seconds) which allows you to create a wide variety of modulations and effects. Its maximum frequencies lie in the middle of the audio range so they can be used in three ways: as low frequency modulators; as audio frequency modulators; and as secondary sound sources. It is therefore vital that, just like a primary audio oscillator, they exhibit pitch stability, waveform accuracy, and a lack of unwanted noise and/or distortion.
